Mid- Autumn Festival

A joint effort between CSA (Chinese Students’ Association), CSSA (Chinese Student Scholars’ Association) and CFGR (Chinese Federation of Greater Rochester), Mid-Autumn Festival is a community show full of different traditional performances showcasing the spirit and culture of the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival or 中秋节.  The show is usually held around the third or forth of Saturday Night in September, at Strong Auditorium, University of Rochester.

The Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节), also known as the Moon Festival or Zhong Qiu Festival, is a harvest festival that has been celebrated for over 3,000 years. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese Lunar calendar, which falls in September or early October on the regular Gregorian calendar. It is a day when the moon is at its fullest and roundest. The traditional customs of the festival include gathering with family, friends and eating moon-cakes.

每年农历8月15日是一年一度的中秋节。 这是一个拥有3000年历史,以庆祝丰收為主的节日。 每年的这一天人们总是会和家人朋友团聚, 一边赏月一边品尝月饼。
